Corolla is a best seller car worldwide. The car is produced by the world's largest car maker Toyota. The car became a huge success after it was launched in 1966. Toyota Corolla is world's largest selling car with 35 million units sold worldwide till 2007. The car has maintained its sales figures while going through a lot of deign changes over the years.

Corolla is manufactured in several countries of the world. The manufacturing plants are located in countries like Japan, India, Brazil, China, Canada, Pakistan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Venezuela, Philippines, South Africa, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey and the United Kingdom.

Toyota Motor Corporation is Japan based world's largest car maker by sales. The company has its headquarters at Toyota City, Aichi and in Tokyo. The company employs around 320,808 people in its worldwide operations. The company was founded by Kiichiro Toyoda in 1937. It was started as a spin off from Toyota Industries to create a new business of manufacturing automobiles.

Toyota Motor manufactured its first passenger car named Toyota AA in 1936. As of now the company has 522 subsidiaries spread all over the world. The company owns Lexus and Scion brands. Toyota also has majority stake in Daihatsu and Hino Motors. Toyota has stake in some other companies like Yamaha Motors, Isuzu Motors, Fuji Heavy Industries and Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation.

Toyota Motor Corporation is part of the Toyota Group of Japan. The group also has interests in financial services through its division Toyota Financial Services. The group also builds robots. Toyota Motor Corporation and Toyota Industries are the largest part of business of the Toyota Group.

The latest economic recession has impacted all auto makers worldwide. Some companies like General Motors had to declare bankruptcy. Toyota was also not immune from the crisis. The company suffered a record annual net loss of US$4.4 billion in the financial year 2008-2009.

In the Indian car market, Toyota Corolla competes with Honda Civic, the segment leader in the country. Toyota has come up with new versions of the car to compete with its rival, but Civic has maintained its leadership position. Recently Totoya launched the car's latest version Corolla Altis. The car was appreciated for its futuristic styling and use of the latest technology.
