When you plan a vacation or business trip you probably consider the option of renting a car. Rental cars are convenient and now a days are very economical. They offer you and your family the chance to make your own schedules as far as tourist attractions and entertainment opportunities.

The fastest way to find a reputable and economical car rental agency is to do a search on the internet or even better ask around a work which companies your co workers have used. You might even find that your company offers a discounted rate with a partner agency. If this is your first time needing to rent a car then you might be unfamiliar with what a car rental agency is and how the process works.

Car rental agencies are companies that own fleets of cars, which for a fee they rent out to everyday people to use when they acre in from out of town or perhaps their own vehicle is being repaired. The rentals are for short period of time and generally the selection of vehicles from a certain agency is limited to a certain brand and then to only certain models which are most popular in easy car style category. The rates are dependent on what type of vehicle you want, how long you need it and when you place the order.

Car rental agencies work of off a network of of branches and agencies. These locations can be found in residential, commercial and downtown areas, locations can also be found in airports and near train stations and bus depots. Most car agencies also rent out trucks, vans and 15 passenger transporters. One of the most famous companies has recently started renting out large cargo trucks that can be used for moving everything from a booth display for a convention or expo, to a demo of a new project to a house full of furniture across town.

When and if you decide to use one of the myriad of a car rental agencies there are some important facts to bear in mind:

1) You must sign for the cars condition at the time of the rental so inspect it carefully and if you see anything make sure its noted on the rental agreement. You must return the vehicle in the same condition as you got it when you turn it back in. Some agencies have begun to install small cameras in the vehicles interior, and within the front a read windshields to have video evidence if an incident or disagreement about the vehicle occurs.

2) If you exceed the mileage that was agreed upon in the contract you must pay the difference, which can in some cases be a surcharge of up to 25% the original rental fee.

3) The car rental agencies will pull a copy of you driving record and will need to see a copy of your proof of insurance. You must also be of a certain age when you want to rent a car. In most states the age is as old as 25.

4) Most agencies also take advantage of the GPS technology available in today's modern cars, to measure how much and where you drive and to ensure that you do not take the vehicle out of the territorial zone agreed upon or drive past a certain speed. Some car rental agencies even install smoke detectors in the vehicles dashboard to determine whether a passenger or driver has been smoking in a non-smoking agreed vehicle and may charge an additional cleaning fee for the interior upholstery
